JOHN WESLEY VINZANT was a son of JAMES and DEBORAH VINZANT and was born in Putnamville, Indiana, on January 24, l837, and departed this life near Lineville, June 2, l924, age 87 years, 4 months and 8 days.

He was married in Decatur County, Iowa, October 23, l864, to SUSANNE MCDOUGAL and lived near Lineville until called to his reward. There were no children born to this union but they adopted a nephew, WILLIAM BERNDT, whom they reared from infancy and whom they cared for as one of their own, and with whom he resided at his death. MR. VINZANT's wife preceded him in death ten years ago.

Uncle JOHNNY joined the church when a young man and was a devout Christian all his life. He was a good husband and neighbor, always ready to help the needy. We can only say that the world is better for him having been here. It was once said that if all men were like JOHN VINZANT, we would need no law officers. He is survived by an aged sister, MRS. MARGUERITE MCDOUGAL, of Atwood, Kansas, and his adopted son, WILLIAM BERNDT.
