EDNA A. MACHLAN, daughter of GEORGE W. and ELLEN MACHLAN, was born in Franklin Township, Decatur County, Iowa, September 5, l86l, and died at her home near Leon, Iowa, June ll, l924, at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 6 days. She was united in marriage to CLEM E. THOMPSON, March 9, l890. To this union were born six children: RALPH J., Des Moines; LESTER O., Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; FERN and VELMA, of Leon, and LLOYD MELVIN and ALVA MCKINLEY, who died in infancy.

She united with the Fairview Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age, at which place she remained a faithful member until her death.

Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her departure, two brothers: HOMER E., and J.N. MACHLAN, of Des Moines, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Fairview Methodist Church, Thursday afternoon at 2:30, where the Pastor of the family, Rev. James Walls, conducted the services in the presence of a very large company who gathered to pay their last respects to this good woman. Interment was made in the Van Wert Cemetery.
