Thursday, May 22, l924JOHN J. WARNER was born July 30, l857, died May 5, l924, aged 72 years, 9 months and 5 days. He came to Iowa when l5 years of age, and resided on a farm three miles south of Mt. Ayr with his parents until the age of 23. He was then united in marriage to ALICE M. FOSTER, of Mt. Ayr, and lived in that vicinity for a number of years, coming to Decatur County in l898, where he lived till his death. To this union were born seven children, four of whom are living. Three children have preceded their father to that blessed Home. HUGH EDWARD died in l889. ELLA FRANCES in l892 and LEWIS ALFRED, last June, l923. Those left to mourn his loss besides the bereaved wife and mother, are: GEORGE EARNEST, Ft. Collins, Colorado; MRS. MAE ORFIELD, Decatur, Iowa; MRS. ADA BENDER, Davis City, Iowa; and MRS. DAISY BLANKENSHIP, Ft. Collins, Colorado. A number of grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was converted and joined the M.E. Church at Mt. Ayr in l880, and later came to the M.E. Church at Davis City. He lived an honorable, upright life and has now gone to his reward. For several months he patiently endured his suffering knowing there could be no relief for him, and told dear ones that the end was near. All that earthly hands could do for him was done, but his life work was finished and God called him Home. He was a kind, loving husband and father, and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. J.E. Clark of the Methodist Church. Interment was made near Mt. Ayr in a home cemetery.
