'Lad Died in Car While Enroute Home.'

VIRGIL BUMGARNER, the six-year-old son of MR. and MRS. CARL BUMGARNER, of near Garden Grove, died in an auto near Osceola, Monday evening. The little fellow had been sick for some time, and last week was taken to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment, but the doctors there could do nothing for him, and he wanted to come home, so his parents and Dr. Coontz, who had been with them in Des Moines, started from Des Moines Monday afternoon, and when near Osceola, the lad passed away. He was the only child of MR. and MRS. BUMGARNER, who have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. His funeral was held yesterday afternoon, interment being in the High Point Cemetery.

VIRGIL DEANE BUMGARNER, only child of MR. and MRS. TOM BUMGARNER, of High Point, was born Oct. 6, l9l7, and died on Monday evening, May l9, l924, aged a little over six years. He was a bright, happy hearted little fellow, of a lovable disposition who had in the short span of life, endeared himself alike to family and friends, and the tenderest sympahy of all goes out to the stricken family in their deep sorrow. The sunshine of the home is gone. The little vacant chair and playthings unused while sweet sad memories cluster about the dear one who has been called to a fairer world than ours.

VIRGIL succumbed to a critical illness on Monday evening while returning home from Des Moines, where he had been taken to specialists. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at High Point Church and the services were conducted by Rev. Duling, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, former Pastor in the Methodist Church here. It was one of the largest funerals ever held, a profusion of beautiful flowers, attesting the affection and sympathy of a host of friends.
