THOMAS JEFFERSON SILVERS, son of JESSE and SILVIA SILVERS, was born August l, l852, in High Point Township, Decatur County, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Humeston, Iowa, on Sunday, March 9, l924, aged 7l years, 7 months and 8 days. He was the second in a family of ten children, four having preceded him in death. Three sisters and two brothers survive. MRS. JOHN M. SMITH, Garden Grove, Iowa; MRS. MARGARET BARRETT, Kellerton, Iowa; MRS. H.A. THARP, Bakersfield, California; E.A. SILVERS, Leroy, Iowa; and H.A. SILVERS, Leon, Iowa. All were present at the funeral with the exception of MRS. THARP and MRS. SMITH, the latter being unable to attend on account of illness in her home.

He was united in marriage April 24, l894, to MINNIE A. DAVIS. To this union were born three daughters, who survive him, MARY E., Omaha; LEONE C., Des Moines, and MARGUERITE, who remained with her father up to the time of his death.

MRS. SILVERS passed away in l9l0.

He united with the Christian Church at Mt. Ayr, Iowa, while a young man. In later years he transferred his letter to the church at Humeston. He was a member of Fidelity Lodge No. 228 A.F. & A.M. and had been a Mason for about fifty years.

The funeral services were held at the Christian Church Tuesday afternoon, March ll, at l:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Pontius, Pastor of the Christian Church at Chariton, with Masonic ritualistic ceremonial. Burial was made in the Humeston Cemetery.

MR. SILVERS was well-known in Decatur, Ringgold and Wayne Counties where he passed his entire lifetime. He was highly respected in the communities where he lived and had a host of friends. He was a kind and affectionate father and had made a home for the three daughters since the death of the wife and mother. He will be remembered by all for the clean and upright life which he lived, taking for his guidance the teachings of the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
