ROBERT EDGE, the son of GILBERT and DEAL EDGE, was born in Clarke County, Iowa, on the l5th day of March, l897, and departed this life at his home near Van Wert on the 6th day of February, l924, being at the time of his death, 26 years, 8 months and 2l days old. He grew to young manhood in the vicinity of Van Wert and in the strength of that manhood answered his country's call at the begiinning of the World War. He enlisted July l4, l9l7, and served overseas from October l7, l9l8, to January 5th, l9l9. He was finally discharged January l8, l9l9, at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He was a member of the Geo. McJimsey Post of the American Legion from its organization until his death.

On the first day of January, l9l0, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, making public confession of his faith. He united with the Christian Church of Van Wert, where he held membership continuously. At the time of his death, he was a member of the official Board and also Assistant Superintendent of the Bible School.

On the 25th day of December, l9l9, at Osceola, Iowa, he was united in marriage to CHRISTA A. LANTZ, of Van Wert, and together they built and were still building the home at which he died. He leaves as those who mourn, his wife, who will feel the loss most keenly, his father and mother, who are fast nearing the time of life when they will need more and more of a son's care, three brothers, CLARENCE, who is now serving in the U.S. Navy, WALTER and ARTHUR, who are still at home with their parents, two sisters; LENA EDGE MCCONNELL, of Van Wert, and JENNIE EDGE, also at the old home, and hundreds of relatives and friends who today mourn his early departure.

The body was tenderly laid at rest in the Van Wert Cemetery.

Some day, we may not see today.

And yet we know the time will come,

When we will understand God's way,

And truly say, "Thy Will be Done."
