Thursday, February 2l, l924KATE, the oldest daughter of MR. and MRS. WM. ARNOT, of Gray, Okla., was born in the State of New Virginia (sic), Dec. 24, l888, and departed this life at her home near Davis City, February ll, l924, aged 35 years, l month and l7 days. On March 6, l907, she was united in marriage at her home in Oklahoma with ODA DALE, when they shortly afterward came to Iowa and started housekeeping on his father's farm, living there for several years, then moving to Davis City for a short time and then to her late home. In all her places of residence she has always endeared herself to many friends as has often been remarked, "Those who knew her best loved her most." She possessed unusually fine traits of character marking her high ideas of life, always speaking a good word for everyone, never trying to tear down but build up, always encouraging, ever cheerful and sunny natured.
She united with the M.E. Church in early life, and has always lived true to the cause. Her demise followed about three weeks of suffering which she bore with great patience. She recently visited her parents and friends in Oklahoma, during her visit she was feeling poorly. On her return home she seemed to feel better, and news reached her friends and relatives of her seemingly improvement, then she seemed to grow worse and doctor and nurse were summoned and in a few days apparently was improved, great hopes of her restoration to health were entertained by her loved ones and friends, when she suddenly grew worse, all that medical skill and loving hands could do were done, but to no avail. The tender cord of life could hold no longer and her gentle soul glided quietly over the silent river to the Great Beyond.
She leaves to mourn her going three children, BERNARD, BELVA and BASIL, husband, father and mother, three brothers: FINLY ARNOT, of Gray, Oklahoma; and FITZHU and WILLIAM, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Also three sisters: MRS. ED GRACE, of May, Oklahoma; MRS. S.W. GRACE, of Follett, Texas, and MISS LUCY ARNOT at home. None were present except her mother and two sisters.
It can truthfully be said a good and kind mother, a true companion, a loving daughter and sister, a royal friend has gone.
The funeral services were held at the New Salem Church, conducted by Rev. Elba Dale. Interment in New Salem Cemetery.
