CHARLES BECHTEL, son of EMANUEL and EMILY BECHTEL, was born near Anchor, Illinois, March 3, l867, departed this life at his home at Decatur, Iowa, January l3, l924, aged 56 years, l0 months and l0 days.

He was married to his companion whom he leaves, January 3, l900, at Bloomington, Illinois, who, with two children, PAULINE and IVAN, and a son, EARL by a former marriage, and two step-children and many friends are left to mourn his departure.

He was converted at an early age and united with the M.E. Church at Anchor, Illinois, and later transferred his membership to the M.E. Church at Decatur, where he had resided for a number of years. He had been confined to his bed for six months or more, but was a cheerful sufferer, and often told his wife and others that he was ready to go and not afraid to meet his God.

Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday, January l6th, conducted by Rev. Charles W. Reeder, of Leon; interment being in the Decatur Cemetery.
