Thursday, January 24, l924CHESTER CAMPBELL VAN HORN, son of MR. and MRS. J.W. VAN HORN, the third child of these parents, was born on November 2l, l909, at Iowa Park, Texas. He departed from this world on December ll, l923, aged l4 years and 29 days. CHESTER was taken ill on September 25, and for more than ten weeks had borne patiently the great sufferings that eventually proved too much, and he passed to that Great Beyond, from whence no traveler returns.
Possibly no lad of his age has ever lived in this community who was more universally liked than was CHESTER. Never a word of censure was heard of this boy, and he was alike popular with the young and the old, in the community where he has spent the entire span of his short life. He was a student in the Iowa Park High School, and a member of the seventh grade, his room turning out in a body at the funeral and the pall bearers being classmates who loved him so well.
The funeral services were held from the First Christian Church, and were conducted by Rev. Lambreth Hancock, of Wichita Falls. One was greatly impressed with the popularity of this lad as his former classmates bore his body down the aisle of the church, while the piano softly pealed "Abide With Me," and the beautiful floral offerings which entirely covered the casket tried to convey to the grief-stricken family a word of sympathy to them in this dark hour, and attested the esteem in which their son was held by all who knew him. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, where a large gathering of friends paid their last respects to CHESTER's memory.
CHESTER is survived by his parents, MR. and MRS. J.W. VAN HORN, three sisters, two uncles and three aunts and families. A host of friends extend to the bereaved familiy condolence in the hour of their affliction.
