Thursday, January l0, l924Funeral services for MRS. HENRY STANDIFER, who died Friday night at ll:30 o'clock, were held from the Bunz & Chapman Mortuary at 2 o'clock, Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. Orville Howard. Interment was made in the Rosehill Cemetery. Miss Fanny Jay and Mrs. William Leacox sang and Miss Lena Sanman accompanied them. The pall bearers were George Blackburn, W.C. Aid, Fred Knittle, George Knittle, James Clift and W.B. Pancake. MRS. STANDIFER died after a short illness with heart trouble and complications. The family moved to Shenandoah about three weeks ago from Greybull, Wyoming.
The obituary follows:
EMMA JANE DAVIS, daughter of JOHN and MARY DAVIS, was born in Davis County, Iowa, July 3, l864. At the age of 5 years, she moved with her parents to Decatur County where she grew to womanhood. On April l3, l890, she was united in marriage to HENRY STANDIFER, at Leon, Iowa. To this union were born seven children, all of whom were at the bedside except one daughter, who on account of sickness was prevented from being present. The children are: MRS. GUY DRISKALL, MRS. IRA STEPHENS, FRANCIS M., OSA D. and HENRY EARL, of Greybull, Wy., HOWARD, of Shenandoah and MRS. FRED BRINLEY. She is survived by five sisters, MRS. JOHN FUNK and G.H. LANTZ, of Shenandoah, MRS. ALFRED BOWMAN and EVA GOODMAN, and MRS. CHARLES MOORE, of Weldon, Ia., and nine grandchildren. She resided at Davis City, Iowa, until about three years ago, when she moved to Greybull, Wyoming, where she resided until a short time ago when she came to Shenandoah, Iowa, thinking that a change of climate would be a benefit to her health.
When l3 years of age, she united with the Methodist Church, to which she remained a faithful member to the last. She was faithful and a Christian wife and mother.
She was conscious to the last, saying she was prepared to go.
