ROBERT G. ALBEE was born in Shelby County, Indiana, November 29, l844, and departed this life May 25, l923, at his home in north Leon, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 26 days. At the age of l5 years he moved to Decatur County where he lived at his death. In l863, he enlisted in the Army in Co. C 9th Iowa Cavalry, serving almost three years. In l867, he was married to ELIZABETH SIMPSON, to this union nine children were born, two having preceded their father in death. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving wife, seven chidren, six being present at his death and fourteen grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was loved by all who knew him, he was not only a true husband and father, but true to his country and flag. He has fought life's battle and has laid his armor down.

Funeral services were held at his home, conducted by George R. Lamb. The remains were laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery by the American Legion firing squad.
