SARAH M. BURRELL STEPHENS, daughter of ASA and ELIZABETH BURRELL, was born in Burrell Township, Decatur County, Iowa, Sept. 8, l846; departed this life May 8, l923, at the home of her daughter, MRS. FRANK COX, being at the time of her death, 76 years and 8 months of age. She was married to T.T. STEPHENS, Sept. l7th, l872; to this union were born two sons and five daughters; HUGH C., JAMES M., and MARY ELLEN have passed over to the Great Beyond. MRS. FRANK COX, MRS. MART ORDWAY, of Davis City, Iowa; MRS. R.J. KNAPP and MRS. R.J. BAILEY, of Lincoln, Nebraska. Eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.

All was done that medical skill and loving hands could to stay death but to no avail. Mother STEPHENS' religion was the Golden Rule. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. Rest her soul in peace. Funeral services were conducted at the home of MRS. FRANK COX by W.F. Burchett, of Davis City.
