This obituary is extremely hard to read; it is blurry and out of focus. There is also a large torn area with some of the information missing. I know this is discouraging for those of you who are looking for family information. I'll do the best I can. Thanks, Nancee

NARVESTA WHEELIS BURCHETT, daughter of JOSIAH and JANE WHEELIS, was born in Tennessee, Oct. ll, l8l4(sic) (* could possibly be l84l.), and died at
her home in Richland Township, Decatur County, Iowa, March l9, l923, aged 82 years, 5 months and 8 days.

She moved to Davis County, Iowa, with her parents in her early childhood and there her mother died in l846. Some years later, her father was killed by a stroke of lightning. The orphan children moved to Decatur County, with an uncle in l853 (This uncle gave the Wheelis Cemetery to the community in later years.) NARVESTA was married to Dr. GLEN COMSTOCK shortly before the Civil War. Her husband died in the service of his country before the end of the war, leaving her with two small children, ALLEN B. COMSTOCK and JANE, who later became the wife of NEWT HILEMAN and preceded her mother to a better world years ago. On Nov. 4, l868, the young widow became the wife of ANDERSON BURCHETT. To them were born 5 children, FANNY, deceased in childhood and WILL, of Davis City; ANNA (*can't read) of Grand River; MOLLIE (*can't read), of South Dakota; and MA??(*can't read), of Grand River. Aunt VESTA and Uncle ANDERSON have (?) grandchildren, and 3l great grandchildren.

Aunt VESTA united with the Camden Baptist in l858, and from that date, 65 years ago, has remained a faithful member. Her husband has been a member of the same church almost as long. Aunt VESTA was the first to be baptized into this church. Her life has seen many wonderful changes and many trying circumstances have passed in her life, but she has ever remained faithful and ever ready to extend a helping hand.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 2lst, conducted by Rev. Orr Campbell, of Humeston, a large concourse of friends attending in spite of the terrible condition of the roads. Interment was in the Wheelis Cemetery.
