CHARLES WESLEY SUTHERLIN was born near Indianapolis, Ind., May 6, l848, and died at his home in Davis City, Iowa, January 20, l923; aged 74 years, 8 months and l4 days. About the year, l893, he came with his parents to Decatur County, Iowa, spending the greater part of his life in this county.

He was married May l5, l87l, to LOUISA SHAFTNER. Eight children were born to them, four preceded their father in death. The living children are, BIRDIE TEALE, NETTIE MARBLE and FRED SUTHERLIN, of Davis City and LOREN SUTHERLIN, of Grey Bull, Wyoming. There are eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. MR. SUTHERLIN leaves two brothers, THOMAS and FRANK, and a half-brother and half-sister. These, with his wife are left to mourn the loss of the one who is thus called home ever more.

MR. SUTHERLIN turned to the Lord about the year, l890, under the preaching of Brother Gillidette. He had been in poor health for some time before his death and gradually grew weaker till death called him. The funeral services were conducted at the chapel of the Church of Christ, January 2l, at 2:30 p.m., by Wm. J. Campbell and the body laid to rest in the old cemetery at Davis City.
