ELIZABETH, the youngest daughter of FRANCIS and MARGARET ROSS, was born August l3, l844, and departed this life February l8, l923, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Several years ago, she united with the Baptist Church near Grand River, and remained in the faith until the last two years, when she became a member of the Pentecostal Faith, and as the end was nearing she often said she was willing to go.

She was born in Pittsburg, Penn., and moved with her parents to Mahaska County, Iowa, when she was eight years old. Two years later they moved to Decatur County, Iowa and remained there until she reached the age of sixteen years, when she was united in marriage to WILLIAM MARTIN. To this union were born two children, SAMUEL, of Union County and JANIE SMITH, of Decatur County. When the daughter was only six weeks old, the father was called to the War of the Rebellion, contracting a disease which caused his death. In l864 she was again married to WILLIAM BLUNT. To this union were born four children, PHAROAH and FRANCIS, who have preceded her in death, and ISAAC, of Decatur County and JAMES, of Ringgold County. MR. BLUNT died in l878.

Then in l879, she was maried to DARWIN B. COOK. To this union were born three sons, THOMAS, of Union County, and EDWARD and GEORGE, who had preceded her in death. MR. COOK died in l879 (*this has to be a misprint.)

She leaves to mourn her departure, four sons and one daughter, twelve grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends. Her children were all present when the end came. All was done to restore her to health that loving hands and medical skill could do, but to no avail, for the Spirit was calling her and she gladly answered the call. She was one who was loved by everyone that knew her. The first few weeks of her illness, she saw two white doves fly past the window every morning about daylight. A week before she passed away, she heard the angels singing "Beulah Land," and she called the family asking them if they heard it. She told her children to not hold on to her as she was prepared to go and God was calling her home. A few days before she left this life she said she saw and talked to her father and had a talk with him. She then told the children not to worry as she was going happy in Jesus.

Funeral services were held in the Grand River Pentecostal Church, conducted by Rev. L.E. Brown, and the body was laid to rest in the Munyon Cemetery to await the resurrection.
