MRS. O.V.L. HARPER was born in Warsaw, Indiana, Sept. l8, l84l. Departed this life, Friday, Feb. 9th, l923, aged 82 years, six months. She came with her people to Clarke County, Iowa, in l854, settling near Osceola, the county seat. While here she united in membership with the New Light Christian Church, being a steady and consistent worker, later changing her membership and uniting with the Methodist Episcopal Church. In l862, she was united in marriage to O.V.L. HARPER, and they in l900, moved to Van Wert, Iowa, which has been their residence until the time of her calling. To this union were born nine children, of which three sons, RAY HARPER, L.J. HARPER and R.E. HARPER have preceded her to the land of rest.

She is survived by her husband, O.V.L. HARPER, of Van Wert, Iowa; one sister, MRS. MCJIMSEY; five daughters: MRS. TILLIE BARR, of Des Moines, Iowa; MRS. LAURA WHINCHESTER, Los Angeles, California; MRS. FLORENCE CARROLL, of Los Angeles, California; MRS. MYRTLE DUTTON, of Osceola, Iowa; and MRS. FRANCIS HICKMAN, of Des Moines, Iowa; one son, W.J. HARPER, of Los Angeles, California.

She also leaves behind her nineteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, many friends and neighbors. MRS. HARPER was a kind and affectionate mother, a loving wife, a good friend to the many that knew of her, a faithful worker in her religious activities.

"Let Faith exalt her joyful voice,

And now in Triumph sing;

O Grave where is Thy Sting?"

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Feb. ll, in the M.E. Church at Van Wert, Iowa, the Pastor officiating. By her own request her remains were laid to rest in the Van Wert Cemetery.
