WILLIAM HARRISON SUTTON, familiarly known to his hosts of friends in and about Leroy, as Uncle "BILLIE," passed to the great beyond at his home in Leroy, Iowa, Dec. l, l922. He lived to the advanced age of 79 years, ll months and l0 days.

The deceased was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, Dec. 2l, l842. His parents were SAMUEL and ELIZABETH SUTTON.

MR. SUTTON was one of a family of eleven children, two brothers still surviving.

July, l862, he enlisted in the 97th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, serving his country honorably and creditably in this capacity for three years. He was mustered out of service and received an honorable discharge from the Army in June, l865.

Sept. l5, l867, he married MISS ANNIE DARNER, also of Muskingum County, Ohio. She passed away at Leroy, Dec. 24, l9l0 and was buried at Garden Grove Cemetery. To this union there were born 5 children, all of whom, except an unnamed infant, are now living, as follows; MRS. MAY POLLARD, Ridgeway, Mo.; MR. B.H. SUTTON, Houston, Texas; MR. W.H. SUTTON, Humeston, Iowa; and MRS. STELLA BEVARD, of Leroy, Iowa. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

After the death of his wife, "Uncle BILLIE" lived alone for three years. Since then, he has been cared for by his niece, MISS ZORA NATCHETT, of Adamsville, Ohio, who has been a veritable angel of God to him during the years of weakness and comparative helplessness.

Not long after his marriage, MR. SUTTON moved to Kansas, at the time when the eastern part of Kansas was the western border of settlement. A few years later, he went with his family to Colorado Springs. Here he resided for three years when he went to California. In Feb. l880, he left California, moving to Derby, Iowa, which place and neighborhood has been his home ever since.

Since his conversion in l865, he has been an active and efficient worker in the Church. Brother SUTTON was greatly loved by everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed in the community, in the church and in all affairs and life of the community. His was a beautiful spirit, optomistic, cheerful and courageous. "Uncle BILLIE" had the happy faculty of always seeing the cheery side of things. His humor was unfailing and greatly endeared him to the people who knew him.
He read widely and had an almost unlimited knowledge of men and affairs. As a conversationalist he had few equals.

He will be greatly missed. His stalwart, upright and consistent Christian character impressed those who came in contact with him and was a benediction to the community. But we rejoice that the end came peacefully and quietly as he so wished it to. Now he is crowned at last.
