RUTH BERNICE VAIL, second daughter of MR. and MRS. J.O. VAIL, was born in Garden Grove, Iowa, June l5th, l905. Died Nov. 9th, l922, aged l7 years, 4 months and 25 days. All of her life, with the exception of two years, which were spent in Colorado, she lived in Garden Grove. She graduated from the Garden Grove High School with the class of l922 and was one of the four honor students. She was just preparing to enter Iowa Wesleyan College at Mt. Pleasant when her illness overtook her.

She was taken into the Presbyterian Church under Rev. Wm. Jones' Pastorate, in the spring of l9l9 and was Secretary of the Sunday School and Christian Endeavor organist at the time of her death. She has been a member of Mrs. Wilson's Sunday School Class for the past six years and much of her religious training is due to Mrs. Wilson's training.

The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon. Rev. Andrew, Pastor of the M.E. Church, conducted the services. Appropriate music was rendered by a quartet composed of Dr. and Mrs. Ward and Miss Flanagan and R.C. Hoadley and a solo by Mrs. Helen Lovett. Very beautiful were the floral tributes from the many friends, the Sunday School, classmates, and the school and societies. The pall bearers were her classmates: Irvin Jones, Marion Jones, Sterling Bemis, Herman Hamilton, Ernest Thomas and Everett Jones, who took John Lovett's place in his absence. The tenderest sympathy of our community goes out to the sorrowing parents and family, and to the many relatives and friends.
