ROLAND BRENNEMAN, son of HENRY and ESTHER BRENNEMAN, was born in Decatur County, Iowa, March l8, l856. He was the youngest of five children and was the only one of the five born in Iowa, the others having all been born while his parents were still in Pennsylvania. All of MR. BRENNEMAN's life has been spent within the bounds of Decatur County, and within a few miles of Grand River. For a part of his working life, he conducted a general store in Grand River, the rest of his active years he spent on his farm. For a number of years he has resided in the town of Grand River, a town whom he saw have its first beginnings and grow to its present size on land which his father had owned. At the time of his death, MR. BRENNEMAN was President of the First National Bank of Grand River.

It was on May 3, l896, that he was married to MISS JENNIE BRINER, his faithful companion through the years that have followed. Under the Pastorate of Dr. W.E. Hamilton, on March l4, l920, Bro. BRENNEMAN was converted and received into the Methodist Church of Grand River as a probationer. He was received into full membership, April 4th of the same year. It is due that we add, while his health and that of his wife permitted, the church had no more regular attendant at all its services, and no more loyal supporter than Brother BRENNEMAN.

His death occurred after a brief illness of little more than a week, on Oct. 24, l922, at his home in Grand River. His age at this time was 66 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Besides his wife and their one daughter, MISS NELLIE BRENNEMAN, there survives a sister, MRS. N.B. EAVES, two brothers, PETER and BLAIR BRENNEMAN, all of Grand River. Besides these, six nieces, four nephews, and many other relatives, and a circle of friends representing the entire community.
