JAMES BAY was born near Sands Springs, Delaware County, Iowa, Oct. l5, l845, and passed away at his home in Franklin Township, October 20, l922, at the age of 77 years and 5 days. He was united in marriage to EXPERIENCE JANE SCOTT, of near Garden Grove, March 4th, l867. To this union four children were born, SARAH CAROLINE and ANNA EVANELL, dying in infancy. JONATHAN ALISHIA and LOUISE EMMA, survive him.

In l873, he moved to Kansas where he remained for about 7 years, the rest of his life being spent in Iowa. He leaves to mourn his loss, his aged wife, his son and daughter, MRS. EMMA AKES, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers, MRS. JAMES CRAGO, of Garden Grove; MRS. LUCY B. CRAGO, of Ben Hur, California; EDWARD BAY, of Ben Hur, California; JOHN BAY, of Wichita, Kansas and GRANT BAY, of Hulett, Wyoming.

He united with the Christian Church in early life and lived and died in that faith. Uncle JAMES, as he was called, was always an honest, upright man and believed in keeping the Golden Rule and do unto others as ye would have them do unto you. Funeral services were held at the home, Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock by brother, Lewis Sears. Interment in the Johnson Cemetery.
