Monday, May 13, 2002Edgar "Ted" Stark, 80, of Creston died may 10, 2002, at his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family
Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St. The Rev. Jim McCutchan, pasotr of the
Assembly of God Church in Creston, will officiate. There is open visitation
from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Creston. A memorial has been established
in his name.Mr. Stark, son of Esther Merle (Cole) and John Lesley Start, was born March
14, 1922, near Grand River. On Aug. 25, 1942, he married Margaret Georgia
Young in Bethany, Mo. He was a mechanic for Boyd's Construction for 30
years. He also farmed and hauled grain for Gretter's & Sons while he lived
in Harper. He retired in 2000. He lived in Harper from 1953 until 1973 when
he moved to Creston. He was a member of the American Legion in Grand River.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from November 1942 to
November 1945.Survivors include two daughters, Linda Stark of Creston and Denise McDonald
of Columbus, Ga.; a son, Steven Stark (special friend Carol Devilder) of
Brooklyn; two brothers, Neil (wife Goldie) Stark of Grand River and Merlyn
(wife Lois) Stark of Eagle Grove; three brother-in-law Leonard Camp and
Junior Mason, both of Osceola, and Gerald Akes of Grimes; five sisters, Oneta
Redman and Doris Redman, both of Osceola, Martha Reasoner of Indianola, Ellen
(husband David) Peterson of Grand River and Joann Brink of Raytown, Mo.;
three sisters-in-law, Helen Camden of Grand River, Nina Stark of Casper,
Wyo., and Myrna Downey of Grant City, Mo.; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in June 2000; two children,
Leslie D. and Donna R. Stark; a son-in-law, Kenneth McDonald; five brothers,
Noel, Roland, Dale, Cliff and Don Stark; and four sisters, Ruth Camp, Ruby
