Thursday, July 27, l922J.M. HOLLINGER was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, November 7th, l840, died July llth, l922, age 8l years, 8 months and 4 days. In August l862, he offered his services to his country, enlisting in Company C. l0lst Ohio Volunteer Infantry, serving with that company 3 years and l month. He took part in many engagements, being severely wounded in the battle of Stone River, on New Year's Day, l863. From January lst to August of that year he spent in the hospital, when he was transferred to the 43rd Company, 2nd Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corps, where he remained as chief clerk, at the Dennison United States General Hospital until mustered out. After the war, he spent some years in St. Louis, Colorado and California.
In May l868, he located in Decatur County, Iowa. December 25, l872, he was married to MISS ELZINA J. SHIELDS. To them were born three children, C.M., who now lives at Glendo, Wyoming, BUFORD and HAROLD, both of Lineville. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge at Pleasanton, Iowa, and also a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. MRS. HOLLINGER preceded him to the other world, having died October 7, l9l8. Funeral services conducted by O.S. Tallent at M.E. Church. Interment at the Evergreen Cemetery.
