JOSEPH HENRY WARRINGTON, the son of ZENE and MARTHA WARRINGTON, was born near Baltimore, Maryland, September 20, l846, and died Friday morning, April 28, l922, at his home in Garden Grove, Iowa, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 8 days. At the age of 7 years, he went with his (*can't read) afterward settling on a farm which his father obtained from the Government. Here MR. WARRINGTON grew to manhood and on November l3, l873, he was united in marriage with THENA A. DODD, of Moravia, Iowa. He purchased forty acres of land from his father and with his young wife, established a home that was to have the timely residence of more than thirty years. In March, l904, MR. and MRS. WARRINGTON moved to Garden Grove, leaving the sons in charge of the farm which he had purchased from the heirs at the time of his father's death. MR. WARRINGTON early evinced a most sagacious judgment, in all lines of practical affairs. He was an industrious farmer and became exceptionally shrewd as a judge of stock and a financial calculator, as well as one of the community's largest producers.

His characteristic temperament of perseverance and stick-to-itiveness when convinced of the right, rendered him an example in many ways of some of the highest Christian virtues. He was held in the highest esteem in his own community and by all who knew him as a business man and Christian gentleman. Years ago under the Pastorate of Rev. Horn, he became a Christian, uniting with the Methodist Church at High Point and later transferred his membership to Garden Grove and was a member of the Board of Trustees at the time of his death.
Whenever his health permitted, he was in his accustomed
place at church services, and took great interest in all the better things of life.

For about twenty years, he suffered from stomach trouble which was the cause of his death. His remarkable patience will ever be an inspiration to those who tenderly cared for the comfort and well being of his loved ones.

Those who survive him to mourn his going are his devoted wife and six children, who were all with him in his last hours. They are: FRANK E., HARL G., GEORGE M., all of Garden Grove. MRS. NELL A. DANIELS, of Los Angeles, California; MRS. MERYL ROBERTS, of Fresno, California and MRS. LAURA JUDD, of Pleasanton, Iowa; six grandchildren, HAROLD P., FRANCIS C., JOSEPH THEODORE, and MARY MAURINE WARRINGTON, JOSEPH N. JUDD and MARJORIE M. ROBERTS. To these grandchildren he was very devoted and spent many happy days with them. His memory will ever linger with them as a blessed inspiration. He also leaves one brother, W.W. WARRINGTON, of High Point, Iowa, and one sister, MRS. JULIA DAUGHERTY, of Pomona, Kansas.

As one gets older, death seems hardly as wide a gap, a few years more or less that's all; meanwhile we know in whose hands we all are. Life is very beautiful but death has its beauty too.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Garden Grove by his Pastor, Rev. V.J. Andrew, on Sunday afternoon, April 30th, and the body was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery belonging to this city.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were; Mr. and Mrs. T.B. Daniels, Mrs. Meryl Roberts and daughter, of California; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Judd and son, of Pleasanton, Iowa; Ed Warrington, of Centerville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Justice and Mrs. John Davis, of Berwick, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. George Longstaff, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Warrington and Miss Fern Hardin, all of Des Moines, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Burnett and son, Harold, and daughter, Mildred, Mr. and Mrs. Will Stiles and son, Claud, of Leon, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Stiles, of Humeston, Iowa.
