RACHEL ANN ROBINSON, daughter of JAMES and ELIZABETH (VAN VLEIT) ROBINSON was born June 8th, l843, at Newburg, New York and departed this life April l8th, l922, at the home of her son, HARRY J. CULVER of this city. The father dying when she was a little girl, the mother with her three small daughters, left New York and located at Racine, Wisconsin, living there and attending school until l859, when she came to Garden Grove, Iowa, to join the family who had previously located here.

During the Civil War she took an active part in the local War relief work. On December 25th, l866, she was united in marriage to JOSEPH CULVER, making her new home on a farm north of Garden Grove. Here her only child was born and they resided until March, l89l, when they moved to the present home.

MRS. CULVER joined the Presbyterian Church at Garden Grove of which she remained an earnest, consistent member. She was a true wife and loving mother, acquiring her greatest happiness from her home and its duties. She aided in the organizing of the Garden Grove Chapters of The Order of Eastern Star and Women's Relief Corps, always taking an active part as long as her health permitted.

Her long and tranquil life ended in peace, and she is sincerely mourned by her husband, son, sister, MRS. HENRY CHASE, Rapid City, South Dakota, who was unable to be present and other relatives and friends.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Miss Harriett Brown, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. G.B. VanArsdale, of Chariton; Mr. P.A. Rockey, of Russell; Mrs. C.A. Post, of Des Moines.
