FRANCES SAMANTHA COMBS, daughter of JOHN and ANNA (MEAD) COMBS, was born in Stark County, Ohio, January 22, l84l, died at her home in Leon, Iowa, April 20, l922, aged 8l years, 2 months and 2l days.

On July 8, l864, she was married to Capt. ATWELL ALONZO JENKS, and to this union were born three children, JESSE ARTHUR, Louisiana and FRANK W.
She is survived by her aged husband, who is quite feeble, daughter, MRS. LOUISANA WOOD, of Leon and FRANK W., SR., of Arkansas City, Kansas; grandson, FRANK, JR., of Los Angeles, California, two sisters, MRS. MIRIAM SINCLAIR, of Laverne, Oklahoma and MRS. LUCY A. SHEARER, of North Canton, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

MRS. JENKS was one of the oldest residents of Leon. She was a pioneer member of the Church of Christ under the teachings of Alexander Campbell and Walter Scott. She has lived in the faith until called to join the loved ones gone before.

Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H.I. Olmstead, Pastor of the Leon Church of Christ. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery.

The sympathy of the community goes to the aged companion and children in their bereavement.
