Charels Edgar Gabel, the son of George and Kitty Anne Gabel was born in
Mahaska county, Iowa on April 24, 1862 and passed away at his home Friday
June 14, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 29 days.

He was united in marriage to Etta Peters April 28, 1892. To this uuion
six children were born. Minnie E. who died in infancy, Clarence of Woodburn,
Iowa, Velma Sandvig, Roy Gabel, Madge Heflin, and Helen Lawson all of Des
Moines.

He leaves to morn his depature his loving wife and children and an
adopted niece, Mrs. Viola Papich who they raised as their own daughter. Three
grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two brothers John of Des Moines
and George of Oskaloosa. His father and mother and one brother and three
sisters preceeded him in death. Uncle Charlie, as he was known to all his
freinds, loved children and will be sadly missed, not only by the children of
the community but by a host of relatives and freinds. Uncle Charley was a
good neighbor and a freind to all, applying the golden rule, "Do unto others
as you would have them do unto you"

He was a lover of home and family. Most of his married life he lived in
and around Leon. He was very patient during his long illness seldom
complaining and very deeply apprecative of ever kindness shown by his freinds
and relatives. His entire family were at his bed side during the last week of
his illness. All that loving hands could do was done but to no avail.

Aloved one from us is gone

A Voice we love is stilled

A Place is vacant in our home

That can never be filled
