Decatur County Journal
February ll, l9l5

Postmaster EARL RILEY, of Decatur, has
converted his motorcycle into a
motorsled by replacing the front wheel with a
long runner, removing the
rear tire and spiking the wheel and placing a
long runner on each side
of the rear wheel extending behind the
machine a sufficient distance for
the arrangements of seats for carrying
passengers. Guiding and the
engine are controlled with long rods and
levers. On a trail run
Wednesday morning of last week on the road
with passengers, MR. RILEY
reached a speed of forty-five miles per hour.
If run on smooth, level
roads or on pavement or ice, a greater speed
could easily be attained.

MR. RILEY's motorsled is a most ingenious
arrangement and is attracting
much attention. He is an expert in the
handling of a motorcycle and he
is also most proficient in driving his
motorsled.
