OSCAR D. PENNIWELL, formerly of this city,
was married last Sunday
evening at Mt. Pleasant to MISS LAURA B.
HELSER, of that city. The
following account of the wedding appeared in
the Mt. Pleasant News last
Monday:

"A quiet but happy home wedding was
solemnized on Sunday evening at the
home of MR. and MRS. JOHN HELSER on North
Lincoln Street when their only
child, MISS LAURA B. HELSER, was united in
marriage to MR. OSCAR D.
PENNIWELL of this city. The officiating
minister was Rev. Thos. Osborn,
Pastor of the M.E. Church and the ceremony
was witnessed by a few
intimate friends of the contracting parties.
The home was beautifully
decorated and at six o'clock the bride and
groom, accompanied by MISS
MARY RATH and MR. GEORGE CARLSON of
Burlington, took their places under
a bower of flowers and wedding bells while
MISS LILLIAN MAUCH played the
wedding march. During the ceremony,
"Meditation" was also played
softly. The bride's gown was of white
embroidered lace over white satin
and she carried a bouquet of bridal roses.
After the ceremony,
congratulations were in order and dainty
refreshments were served by
MRS. HELSER.

The bride is one of Mt. Pleasant's daughters,
having been born and
raised here. She graduated from the high
school and from the business
course at Iowa Wesleyan and has a host of
friends who will wish her much
happiness in her married life. The groom,
who has been a valued member
of the News force for the last four years,
also has a large circle of
friends in this city and the wedding is the
culmination of a romance,
which commenced several years ago.
MR. and MRS. PENNIWELL will make their home
at 700 North Lincoln Street.
