NATE CRAIGO captured a monster tarantula in a
bunch of bananas which he
opened at the restaurant Tuesday morning.

Next Wednesday is St. Valentine's day and as
usual the small boys and
girls will make lite a dreary burden to the
postoffice force.

Rev. G.D. Gurley will preach at Crown Chapel
on next Sunday at 3 p.m.
There will be services each evening of the
week also until Friday
evening.

An addition to the family of BLUF. WILSON
appeared last Thursday night
in the shape of a bouncing boy. Dr. Brown
reports MRS. WILSON and the
baby doing nicely.

Thrifty housewives should not fail to read

S.L. CURRY, Administrator will sell all
personal property of R.B. CURRY,
deceased, at the O'NEAL farm in Eden Township
on Wednesday, Feb. l4.
There is quite a lot of stock, corn, hay,
etc. to be sold.

The case in Esquire ALBAUGH's Court against
FRANK STANLEY and GUY DAVIS
for carrying concealed weapons, was disposed
of last Friday. DAVIS
pleading guilty and being fined $3.00 and
costs, while the case against
STANLEY was dismissed.

MR. GROUND HOG had no trouble in seeing his
shadow last Friday if he
made his appearance in this part of the
country. According to the old
saying, we will now have six weeks more of
bad weather which has not
materialized.

Born to MR. and MRS. C.W. HOFFMAN, on
Tuesday, Feb. 6th, l894, a son.

W.A. ALEXANDER has been very sick for the
past ten days, but we are
pleased to state he is improving.

RALPH MCCOLLOUGH, one of the leading
merchants of Chariton, died last
Saturday and was buried Sunday.

JUDGE TEDFORD took the matter of a new trial
in the MCCREADY-BEAVERS
case under advisement, to be decided in
vacation.

GRACE, the fourteen year old daughter of MR.
and MRS. S.W. WALLACE, is
dangerously ill at her home in south Leon
with pneumonia.

Notice the new adv. of Drake & Co. They have
just remodeled the interior
of their store room and put in a new stock of
groceries.

J.W. HONNOLD's moving to his farm this week.
The house vacated will
shortly be occupied by FRED TEALE, who will
move here from Lamoni.

ELDER WATKINS preached a very interesting
sermon at the Advent Church
Sunday evening, the first of a series of
sermons which he will conduct
every evening this week except Saturday.

Just as long as you tickle some fellow under
the chin and say things
that suite their fancy, they are "yum, yum",
jolly good friends, but
just say something they don't like and see
their pistols point
Heavenward.
