BIOGRAPHY ~ EUGENE LEONARD FOLAND FAMILY

Eugene Leonard "Gene" Foland, son of Leonard and Dena (Jones) Foland, was born October 8, 1920 in Decatur County, Iowa. He grew to manhood on the family farm and graduated with the 1937 class of Grand River High School. He married on March 11, 1943 to Alberta Elaine Lamb, daughter of Casper (Ike) and Margaret (Carrel) Lamb, she was born December 31, 1923 in Doyle Township. They have farmed all their married lives except for a few brief years spent near Pheonix, Arizona where Eugene worked on construction. They have two daughters:

Anita Louise Foland born December 3, 1945 is a graduate of the University of Iowa, and has worked as Recreatial Director for the past twelve years in the Armed Forces, with a stint in Vietnam for 18 months during the War; in Badkissengen and Grafenwohr, Germany for ten years and is now in Korea. [Anita has been the conservation officer for Clarke County, Osceola, Iowa, for several years ~ 2015.]

Illa Jean Foland born April 1, 1949 married Keith Carson, son of Buck and Georgia (Jones) Carson. They farm in Clarke County, and have two sons: Brian and Mathew.

NOTE: Gene died December 29, 2008. Interment was made at Westerville Cemetery.
