Floyd Downing

Floyd Downing, 79 of Bloomfield, Iowa, died October 10, 1979, at the Davis County Hospital. He was born September 24, 1900, in Davis County, Iowa to Alva and Maude
Pottorff Downing.

Floyd and Flora Hoskins were married April 30, 1924, at Cantril, Mo., and had one son, Harold.

He was educated in the Davis County country school system. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Christian Church.

He was employed by the A.S.C.S. office and was a weight master for the City of Bloomfield, plus being a farmer all his life. He also was a township trustee and served on the election committee.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Flora; one son, Harold, and his wife, Pat; three grandchildren, Steve, Sue and Dave Downing all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers, Ancel and Ralph Downing.

Funeral services were held October 12, 1979, at the Priester Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield, Iowa. Pastor Gordon Fisher, Church of the Open Bible, gave the message. Special organ music was provided by Rosemary Priester. The poem, "Crossing the Bar" was read at the close of the service.

Floyd Downing truly lived a full and wonderful life enjoying his family and friends who will greatly miss him.

Interment was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Bloomfield, Iowa.
