Ottumwa tri-weekly courier, April 16, 1910 William Piper was born in Ohio January 1842, died at his home near Drakeville, Iowa. April 8, 1910. The deceased was a member of the Tenth MO. and also a member of the Third IA. The deceased leaves his companion and six children:
Harry who lives at the home place, Mrs. Ellie Kelsie who lives at Moulton, another daughter living near Bloomfield, Charlie, living at Drakeville, Walter of California and Horace of Ottumwa. All were present at the funeral. Services were held at the home Sunday at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. A. D. Huff, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Drakeville cemetery.
