Mrs. Sarah K. Holcomb
Mrs. Sarah Katherine Holcomb, 60, wife of George Holcomb, of New Sharon, died at the Ottumwa hospital at 6:50 AM. She was the daughter of Augustus and Eliza Jane Johnson and was born in Davis County August 4, 1877. She was a member of the Drakesville Christian church. Surviving are her husband; six daughters, Mrs. Altie Pearson of New Sharon, Mrs. Elsie Jones of Grinnell, Mrs. Ivy Smith of Drakesville, Mrs. Hazel Whetstine of Monroe, Mrs. Alice Beason of Lynnville, and Mrs. Viola Bittner of Traintor, Iowa; two sons, Clarence Holcomb of Blakesburg and Lester Holcomb of Traintor; a sister, Mrs. Artie Christy of Sparks, Oklahoma; three brothers, Ellsworth and William Johnson of Floris and Ira M. Johnson of California; 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Johnson's Chapel Tuesday at 10 AM and at the Drakesville Christian church at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Drakesville cemetery.
