Nora Rogers service Monday

ELDON - Nora Oliver Rogers, 97, of Eldon, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 1989, at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua.

She was born April 2, 1891, in Liberty Township of Jefferson County to Harrison and Sarah Hutton Oliver, and was reared and educated in Van Buren and Jefferson counties.

She was a retired school teacher and had served as justice of the peace in Davis County and Eldon.

Mrs. Rogers had lived in Davis County from 1917-42 when she moves to Eldon. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua since 1984. She was a member of the Eldon Christian Church and Rebecca Lodge.

On Jan. 31, 1917, she married Theodore W. "Dode" Rogers in Davis County. He died in 1944. She also was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother and a stepson.

Surviving are one stepdaughter Florence Oliver of Libertyville; nine stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters Mabel Brown of Ottumwa and Margaret Palmer of Nevada, Mo.

A service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Heidlebaugh Cemetery in Davis County. Memorials to the cemetery may be left at the funeral home where visitation is open.
