ELAMSYLVESTER MCLAUGHLIN

Hi Again...we visited the Woodward Cemetery in Woodward, Iowa in June...found the graves of Elmin McLaughlin, his wife Ella McLaughlin Pefley; young children Frankie d 16 Aug 1881 - 3 y 6m 1d (b 15 Feb 1878) Glidey d 11 Oct 1881 - 1y 7m 24d (b 10 March 1880); and Gracie d 17 Aug 1881 - 5y 2m 18d (b 30 May 1876)

Elmin died 22 Oct 1882 and Ella married Jacob Wm Pefley in 1896. They have small stones beside the large stone of Elmin.

Elmin and Ella were the parents of Carrie May 1872; Wallace 1874; Gracie 1876; Frank 1878; Jessie 1880; Delbert/Bert 1883 and Vera 1889.

I have always thought this man had a double name, Sylvester Elman but now confused. The 1870 census shows him living at home with his parents Petter (Samuel Potter) McLaughlin in Jackson Co IA. This is o.k. as he married Ella Sept 1870 but the 1880 census lists him as Sylvester McLaughlin age 32 living in Green Co IA with his parents Samuel and Margaret McLaughlin and SINGLE. Could Elman and Sylvester be two different men, twins? Any place to look for an obit?

The above Vera married Earl Keenan.

Any help? Thanks, Lindy
