Knowlton Family

BENBOW, COATES, KNOWLTON, MCCHESNEY, POINTER, RILEY, ROTE

I am looking for information on the Knowlton family (and relatives), who moved to Dallas Co, IA, from Iowa Co, WI in the mid-1860s. These included Stephen (1815-1888) and Elizabeth (Allen) Knowlton (1820-1907) and their children: Anna French and her husband, William H. Coates, and children; Laura Pamelia (m. William Pointer); Sylvia Ramanda (m. John C. Benbow in 1873); Wiram Lorin; Alditha Cora (m. Eugene McChesney in 1878); Elmer Daniel (m. Mary Ellen Rote in 1883); and Effie Lunette (m. David Smith Riley in 1884). Stephen's brother Ephraim Knowlton and his wife Lydia apparently moved to Dallas Co. at about the same time and were living in Union Twp. in 1870. Most of the family lived in the Perry area. In the mid-1880s Effie, Elmer, Wiram, and their mother moved to California; I can't discover whether Stephen died in Dallas Co. or in California.
