LONG, NICHOLSON

Looking for Minerva Nicholson who moved with her family to Dallas County in the late 1870's or early 1880's. Along with her family there was a small boy named William Long that grew up in that family's care when his mother died. He told his children he had lived with the Nicholsons in DeSoto, Dallas Co, IA. I do not know the name of Minerva's husband. The family would have moved from Missouri around 1882 or so. By 1900 she is listed alone in the Van Meter Township census but he should be listed in the Iowa 1885 census. Does anyone have access to the 1885 State census for that area? Also the 1895 census, if possible. My grandfather's name was William Long and he kept that name. The Nicholsons did not officially adopt him. Can anyone help, please?
