Charles Short Died at Dexter

Father of Adel Residents Passed Away at Age of 63—Funeral Services Held Wednesday

Funeral services were held last Wednesday at Dexter for Charles Short, well known resident of that place and brother of Fred Short and Mrs. Anna Devore, of Adel. Death came to him suddenly at the Robert Young home where he had gone on an errand. The services were conducted by Rev. Neal Clammer and burial was at the Dexter Cemetery.

Charles Edward Short was born November 14, 1881 at Redfield and passed away January 28th, 1945 at Dexter at the age of 63 years, two months and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Lena B. Keltner, Sept. 4, 1901. To this union were born nine children, Carlton of Omaha, Quinlan of Eldora; Loretta Smith of Redfield; Kenneth of Adel; Irma Day of Des Moines; Private Leondas, U.S. army; Laverne in the U.S. navy; Orpha Thompson and Beulah, of Dexter.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, the nine children, fifteen grandchildren; three sisters, Mattie Binns of Redfield; Ella White of Linden and Anna Devore of Adel; and two brothers, Tom of Redfield and Fred of Adel, together with a host of friends who will cherish his memory.

He was a member of the odd Fellows Lodge. Mr. Short had been in poor health for some time, but his death was very unexpected.
