Diantha Jane Evans was born in Jasper County, Iowa, March 2, 1865, and passed peacefully away at her home in Dexter, Iowa, Dec. 29, 1938. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Lynnville, Iowa. She was united in marriage with George Wesley Dennis at Newton, Oct. 19, 1882. To this union were born three children: Clyde R., and Charles H., of Dexter, and Gertrude Myrtle, who preceded her mother to the Great Beyond. In 1909 Mrs. Dennis was bereft of her husband, she bore her sorrow with great fortitude. While still a young woman, she was converted and united with the Methodist church and remained a member as long as she lived. During the later years of her life she was unable to attend church services because of failing health, but she never lost faith in the great and good God.

Mrs. Dennis was a devoted mother, a faithful companion and an excellent neighbor to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, three grandchildren, Howard, Floyd and Dorothy Dennis, one great grandchild, Jerene Dennis, five sisters, Laura Bennett and Angie Potsander, of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Roy Johnston of Milton, Iowa, Mrs. W. T. Dodd, of Springfield, Oregon, and Mrs. Myrtle Cramer of Phoenix, Arizona, with a host of friends and acquaintances, who mourn the passing of this good woman. Funeral from the M. E. church last Saturday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. J. H. Freedline. Interment in Dexter cemetery.
