Baxter George, an old resident of the vicinity of Dexter, but later living at Sioux Falls, died there last week and was brought to Dexter for burial. He was an eccentric character and will be remembered as being in a divorce case here two years when his second wife got a divorce from him. It was in the famous George case that one, P. Stephen Harris, figured so prominently and which ultimately led to his removal from Adel. At one time Baxter George was wealthy and was well known as a raiser of fine horses, but litigation had largely dissipated his fortune.

The remains of Baxter George arrived on the noon train from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he died from injuries inflicted by a horse, the particulars of which we were unable to learn. The remains were interred in the Friends’ cemetery, on Bear Creek.
