Christine M. Struck was born the oldest daughter of Paul and Lucy Clausen Martin at the family home near Dexter, Iowa on February 21, 1910. She died at Regency of Renton Care Center in Renton, Washington on March 22, 2005 at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 1 day.

Her parents came to the Dexter area from Germany in the 1880's and were members of Zion Lutheran congregation until their deaths. Christine always wanted to visit Pellworm, Germany where her parents were from but never made the trip. Christine was a devout lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for 10 years and was a part time organist. Religious teachings were very important to her, and even at the age of 95 attended the retirement home church.

Christine and George were married June 1, 1932 in the former Zion Lutheran Church. They always lived in the Dexter area until 1996 when she moved to Renton, WA, but fondly remembered Dexter as her home. Photographs of their 25th wedding anniversary appeared in the local paper, a copy of which is in the cornerstone of the present Zion Church building.

As a flatlander, she went ocean salmon fishing once and never again, as she became very seasick. Christine and George loved to travel in their camper all over the US and Alaska, but enjoyed seeing the countryside and farm land the most. By Christine living on the farm most of her life she knew how to run a good farm and what made a successful farmer. She cooked many delicious meals for the thrashing crews made up of friends and neighbors, and kept a bountiful garden. She also taught school in the one room schoolhouses in the area.

Christine is survived by daughters; Gerry and Margot Ann of Denver, Co; son George and wife Cathie of Woodinville, WA; son Fred and wife Patty of Renton, WA; sister Anna Clausen of Fort Wayne, IN; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 1996 and her sister Margaret in 2004.
