Lula Kathryn Sanborn, daughter of George Hinkson and Alice Crabb Sanborn was born at Menlo, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1898. She passed away at the Clinic Hospital at Dexter, Iowa, Dec. 19, 1957, at the age of 59 years, one month and four days, after a lingering illness of over one year.

Her childhood days were spent on a farm south of Menlo. She attended and was graduated from the Menlo Public Schools in 1918. Upon graduation from the Capitol City Commercial College she attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls.

On February 16, 1921 she was united in marriage to Rolland Preston Weesner. They moved to a farm south of Stuart, Iowa. In February, 1938 they moved to their present farm home north of Dexter, where their three boys were raised.

Mrs. Weesner joined the church at an early age and has always taken an active part in church work, being a member of the choir and superintendent of the Primary Department of the Sunday School for 17 years.

She was active in community affairs and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She enjoyed working with her flowers and garden which gave her the opportunity to help her Master beautify his works. By her love of music she was able to assist her Master in his teachings through her ministry of music.

Mrs. Weesner leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Rolland P., her three sons: Max M., Robert P. and Jack W., and three grandchildren: Charles, Catherine and David Weesner, all of Dexter. Also her father, George H. Sanborn of Des Moines; a brother, Merle Sanborn of Menlo and a sister, Hilda McNabb of Des Moines.

Services were held in the Dexter Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Sunday. The ministers in charge were Paul Textor and Robert Holloway of Dexter. Organist was Mrs. K. M. Chapler. Casket bearers were Howard Walker, W. N. Curry, H. R. Isenberg, Walter Roberts, A. T. Daulton and Virgil Sanborn.
