Earlham—Marvin Carl Jobst, 68, of Earlham died Dec. 21, 1996 at his home. Funeral services were held Dec. 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter with interment in Dexter Cemetery.

Mr. Jobst was born Jan. 17, 1928 to Bert and Ida (Clausen) Jobst on the family farm four miles south of Dexter. He graduated from Dexter High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving with the 43rd Engineers Battalion in Japan. When he returned home, he attended Iowa State University and started farming with his father.

On March 18, 1951 he married Martha Davis in Washington. He continued farming south of Dexter the rest of his life.

He was a life-long member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he held various church offices, taught Sunday school, belonged to Zion Fellowship Club, the Lutheran Layman’s League and served as zone president. In addition, he was a 4-H leader, served on the Madison County Extension Board, the Earlham Home Health Care Board and belonged to the Dexter American Legion Post. He also worked part time as a flagman for Gus Construction Co.

Mr. Jobst was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille Boyle. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Mark of Urbandale, Terry of Tipp City, Ohio, and Jim of Spring, Texas; one daughter, Cheryl Sealine of Dexter; and one brother, Harold Jobst of Dexter.
