Dexter—A funeral for Dr. C. Robert Osborn, 83, of Dexter was held Jan. 2, 1991 at the United Methodist Church here. Dr. Osborn died of gastro-intestinal complications and congestive heart failure on Dec. 30, 1990 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at Des Moines. Inurnment will be at a later date.

The son of James Henry and Lavinia Turner Roosa Osborn, he was born at Indianola on May 19, 1907. He graduated from Simpson College and, in 1932, graduated from medical school at the University of Nebraska. He began his medical practice in Menlo in 1933 and then moved to Dexter in 1936 to form the Chapler-Osborn partnership. Following service in the United States Navy during World War II, he returned to Dexter to continue his medical practice, retiring in 1980. During that time he provided general medical services throughout central Iowa and delivered over 1,000 babies.

He married D. Ruth Peck in 1930. She died in 1965. He married Wanda Pohle Freedline on Sept. 24, 1972.

He serviced on the Dexfield school board for 11 years and also served on the board of directors of the Dexter United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masons, the Dexter Community Club, the American Legion, the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, Iowa Medical Society and Dallas-Guthrie Medical Society. He also helped organize the 5 x 80 Club and the Dexter City Park.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Dexter; a daughter, Mary Blomquist of St. Paul, Minn.; a son, Robert Osborn of Bellevue, Wash.; a step-son, James Freedline of St. Louis, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
