Dexter—Audrey Rebecca Cook, 88, of Dexter died of respiratory failure Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at her home. Services were held Saturday, April 10, at Kuhn Funeral Home of Dexter, with burial at Dexter Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook was born to Louis and Cecelia (Soar) Jensen on Jan. 30, 1911, at Murdo, S.D. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1929, and taught country school for two years. She married Ray “Dutch” Cook in 1931, and the couple farmed in the Dexter area for several years.

Mrs. Cook also worked as a Certified Nursing Aide at the Earlham and Stuart Care Centers, and the couple owned Cooks Flowers and Antiques in Dexter until 1970. The two were instrumental in the construction and development of Stuart Conservation Lake.

Survivors include four sons, David of Apache Junction, Ariz., Jacob of Jacksonville, Ark., Jim of Niceville, Fla. and Robert Notman-Cook of Des Moines; one daughter, Patricia Norris of Dexter; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
