Dexter—A graveside service for James Loren Combs Sr., 65, of Dexter will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 1990, at the Dexter Cemetery. Mr. Combs died of a heart ailment at his home on Feb. 10.

The son of Clinton Loren and Nona Fern Combs, he was born at Des Moines on Dec. 26, 1924. He married Marlowe Elaine Cook of Moline, Ill. on April 23, 1946. They moved to Des Moines in 1947, and to Dexter in 1967. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the air-sea rescue unit. He retired from Mercy Hospital Medical Center at Des Moines in 1986 from his job as a first class engineer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlowe, his parents, a brother and a son, Jerry Robert.

Survivors include three sons, James Jr. and John, both of Dexter, and Bob of Ankeny; two daughters, Pat Hutchins and Lorie Moore, both of Stuart; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
