Margy Carter, 84, of Stuart, died at the Community Care Center in Stuart. Services were held Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter.

Margy Carter was born May 22, 1919, near Redfield, the daughter of Arthur and Madelene Smith Travis. She attended North High School in Des Moines, then attended and graduated from beauty school. She married Wilbur Carter on Dec. 5, 1940, in Des Moines. They farmed south of Dexter and Stuart, and she was a nurse’s aide at the Dexter Clinic. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharilynn Algreen of Dexter; four sons, Ronald of Ankeny, Dale of Des Moines, Gary of Mills, Wyo., and Randy of Ankeny; one sister, Jeanie Jarman of Walker, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or the Dexter First Responders. Kuhn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
