Dexter—A funeral for Rolland P. Weesner, 93, of Knoxville and formerly of Dexter was held May 4, 1992 at the United Methodist Church here. Mr. Weesner died of a heart ailment on May 1 at Veterans Hospital at Knoxville. Burial was at the Dexter Cemetery.

The son of James and Sarah Varley Weesner, he was born near Stuart on Jan. 28, 1899. He graduated from Stuart High School, attended Iowa State College and served in the military. On Feb. 16, 1921, he married Lula Kathryn Sanborn. He was a retired farmer, and his family had been involved in raising purebred Angus cattle for many years. He also hosted at his farm the 1948 National Plowing Match attended by President Harry Truman. He was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Odd Fellows Lodge, Lions Club and Farm Bureau.

Mr. Weesner was preceded in death by his wives, Lula and Hilda; by a son, Max, and by a granddaughter.

Survivors include two sons, Robert of Dexter and Jack of Waukee, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandsons and one great great-grandson.
