Daniel J. Beane, 59, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 in Palm Desert, Calif. after a brief illness.

Burial and memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Dexter Cemetery.

Luncheon and fellowship will follow the service at Dexter Methodist Hall.

Daniel John Beane was born on June 22, 1947 in Ames, the son of Carroll and Bernadine Beane. He graduated from Drake University in Des Moines in 1969 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and completed his master’s degree at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He was working towards a PhD at Oxford University.

Dan served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1973. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Palm Desert, Calif.

He had been employed as an executive with numerous environmental waste companies, as a consultant for water projects in Nicaragua, and was most recently employed under government contract in Iraq rebuilding hospitals.

A humanitarian who initiated and supported a library in Nicaragua, he also dedicated many years to “Splash” raising funds for the ASF of Orange County, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Beane.

Daniel J. is survived by his mother, Bernadine Beane and his sister, Barbara Constantine.
