Warren was born on Sept. 25, 1950, in Dexter, Iowa, to Orville and Winifred Thulin Grant. He graduated from Dexfield High School in 1968. He later received a B.S. degree in Biology from Drake University. Because of Warren’s love of travel, he spent eight years presenting travelogues in Iowa school districts. Warren taught sixth grade cultural studies at the Grinnell Middle School and coached football and track. His teaching career continued overseas in China and Ukraine.
Warren was united in marriage to Terese Baker on May 30, 1978, in Elizabeth, N.J. To this union were born two sons, Aaron and Ryan. Among Warren’s interests were gardening, sports, and spending time with his family and friends. Warren had two passions: traveling and photography. Warren had always told people, “The best education you can get is through traveling. I’ve had the opportunity to see many places throughout the world meeting numerous people and experiencing their culture. I thoroughly enjoy being able to photograph the varied landscapes I’ve seen and the people I’ve met.”
Survivors include his wife, Terese Grant of Grinnell; his children, Aaron (Melissa) Grant of Fairbury, Ill. and Ryan Grant of Riga, Latvia; his grandchildren Owen, Elliott, Knox and Maddox Grant; his sister, Sandra Bullock of Duarte, Cal., and his brother Paul (Audrey) Grant of Rapid City, S.D. Warren was preceded in death by his parents.
